The scan window parameters define the valid scan envelope. Scan points outside this window will not be returned in profiles. These parameters are useful to avoid getting unwanted data points that are in the vicinity of the piece you wish to scan. For instance, when scanning an object on a conveyor belt, you'll probably want to avoid including the belt in the data points.
