The JS-20 is capable of generating 200 profiles per second, each with 240 data points. This is somewhat dependant on exposure times, but for most applications this will not be a problem.
The JS-20SR provides accuracy of +/- 0.025" at a 20" standoff and +/- 0.040" at a 60" standoff. It provides roughly 20 points/inch at 20" standoff and 12 points/inch at 60" standoff.
Table 5. JS-20 Family Specifications

| JS-20XR | 36" to 120" | 30° | +/- 0.030" to +/- 0.100" | 15 to 5 |
| JS-20WA | 24" to 48" | 60° | To be determined | 8 to 5 |
| JS-20DL | 36" to 120" | 30° | +/- 0.030" to +/- 0.100" | 15 to 5 |
The laser is a 50 mW laser at the 660 nm wavelength. Its power is reduced as it fans out, however, so the JS-20 is a class IIIa laser product. Naturally blinking your eye will keep you safe from dangerous levels of laser exposure, but you should not stare directly into the laser.
